The Lay training department in Kirinyaga diocese is assigned the responsibility of giving training to the laity on the Word of God as well as preparing them for lay ministry like lay readership and Church leadership. This is done through organized trainings for the people elected or appointed for various posts in the Church as well as volunteers like the Sunday school teachers, youth leaders among others. There are programs used to enhance learning and especially when we get to the Word of God where various books are given to guide our learners’ on the same. The trainings are mainly done at our retreat center Safari Ya Biblia retreat center.
The department is also entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring good use of the liturgy during various services as well as enhancing lively liturgical services. In the same department we have the Church choirs whose core business is to use music to preach the Gospel using selected theme. This year’s theme is “Longing and waiting for God” (Psalm 42:1-2) and the set pieces for various groups in the Church were launch on 8th February 2020 during the Choir celebrations.
- To raise a well-founded Christian community where the Gospel is not compromised.
- To have lively liturgical services in which every member of the congregation actively participate.
- To reach out to more people with the Gospel through the gift of music.
- Deanery seminars at deanery level.
- Launching of new Bible study classes at congregational level.
- Training of Church choirs at congregational level.
- To provide Christians from all walks of life with a place where they can prayer and seek the face of God.
- To offer practical teaching of the Word of God to all Christians.
- To provide a Christian facility where people can come together to enjoy and have fun through various games and boat riding.
- Have held seminars for all local church leaders in all the archdeaconries.
- Have taken majority of the confirmation, Mothers Union and KAMA candidates through the Bible journey before confirmation and enrolment.
- Have continued with the construction of hall with a capacity of 150 (one hundred and fifty) people and a kitchen there in and we are now doing the roofing.
- Continue with the pilgrimage journey of the Bible with the candidates and other visitors who come from other denominations.
- Hold a teen’s talk show with Pillar T.V on issues affecting them in this era.
