CCMP

REV STANLEY WACHIRA

Church and Community Mobilization (CCMP) is the process where local churches work with its local community to identify and respond to their needs together.

In other word it aims at empowering people to transform their situation holistically using God given locally available resources across the whole diocese of Kirinyaga.

This is an exciting process of mobilising the community as the church begins to be salt and light by encouraging and supporting communities to analyse their own situations and to take steps to work together to make changes for the better.

How the church and community responds to the needs identified may vary. Responses may include self-help groups, improving infrastructure, advocating for improvement of or access to services or changes to unjust laws and may also include projects to improve livelihoods

Achievements

  1. Envisioning process done in all our archdeaconries. A church or a group of churches is envisioned and mobilized to identify and respond to the needs of their community.
  2. We have coordinators in every archdeaconry who have been very instrumental to the process.
  3. We have been celebrating CCMP Day every year since 2023.

Projections

  1. Secure strong leadership. We will establish committees from the church to the diocesan level.
  2. To enhance basic understanding of CCMP to all our churches.
  3. Implementation of our strategic plan through the diocese.
  4. Improvement of CCMP communication channels. This is so that information be reaching the concerned people in good time.

Challenges

  1. Financial constraints in churches.
  2. Not well understood by many Christians since it is in the initial stage of re-introduction.

Recommendation

  1. This synod encourages churches to embrace CCMP training programmes.
  2. This synod urges parishes to continue supporting CCMP departments.
