ACK Kahiro Parish – Confirmation Service
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph K. Kibucwa challenged Christians at ACK Kahiro Parish to live as witnesses of Christ and allow His light to shine through their lives. Preaching from 2 Peter 1:16–19, the Bishop highlighted four powerful evidences that affirm the testimony and glory of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Kibucwa explained that the Apostle Peter was not sharing a story based on hearsay. Peter testified as an eyewitness of Christ, particularly recalling the experience of Jesus’ transfiguration.
Four Evidences of Jesus’ Testimony
The first was visual evidence. Peter personally witnessed the glory of Christ and therefore testified from what he had seen. His testimony demonstrated that the disciples had encountered Jesus and witnessed His divine glory.
The second was audio evidence. During the transfiguration, a voice came from heaven affirming Jesus. Peter emphasized that he had personally heard this heavenly voice. The Bishop encouraged Christians to take the words of Christ seriously because they are grounded in divine authority.
The third was prophetic evidence. During the transfiguration, the disciples saw Moses and Elijah, pointing to Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s prophetic purposes. Bishop Kibucwa urged Christians to take God’s prophetic Word seriously and allow it to transform their lives.
The fourth was the testimony of creation. Drawing from Psalm 97, the Bishop pointed to creation itself as evidence of God’s greatness. The seas, mountains, rain, and the order of the natural world all point toward the power and majesty of their Creator.
Let Your Light Shine
Turning to the responsibility of believers, Bishop Kibucwa emphasized 2 Peter 1:19, which describes God’s Word as a lamp shining in a dark place.
He encouraged Christians to allow that light to shine wherever they are—among their friends, at work, at school, and within their communities.
The Bishop noted that a light does not have to be powerful or large to make a difference. Even a small light can illuminate a path and help someone find their way.
He therefore encouraged the confirmation candidates and the wider congregation to remain faithful witnesses of Christ and to keep shining until the dawn comes.
Bishop Kibucwa also cautioned the church to remain prayerful and careful as the country approaches a campaign period, urging Christians to maintain their witness and avoid conduct that could compromise their Christian calling.
The message concluded with a call for believers to shine with the glory of Christ, holding firmly to God’s Word and allowing their lives to point others toward Jesus.
